Our sales team is ready to help you with any of your needs. We accept cash, personal checks, Visa and MasterCard. If you would like to set up an account, you may fill out our credit application. 3. How do I establish an account? First fill out a credit application and mail the original to our office, PO Box 1000, Waukee, IA 50263-1000. If you’d like to get a head start on the approval process, fax your application to (515) 987-2000 and then mail us the original. We’ll use the faxed copy to get started on your application, then quickly complete the process when your original arrives by mail. 4. Do you sell more than lumber? Gilcrest/Jewett definitely sells more than lumber. Our general product categories are lumber, plywood, millwork, siding, windows, doors, cabinets, floor covering, and hardware. Products and services within the categories include: Dimension lumber and finished lumber Common boards and finished boards Plywood sheathing Oriented strand board Sheathing Insulation Roofing Siding Exterior decking and fencing Nails and fasteners Caulking Builders hardware and residential hardware Windows Patio doors Exterior pre-hung doors Interior pre-hung doors Millwork and mouldings Custom millwork and pre-finished millwork Cabinets Vanities Countertops Floor and roof prefabricated trusses Engineered wood products A residential design service Floor covering including include carpet, ceramic, vinyl and installation. We deliver anywhere in Iowa as well as out of state. For more information on out-of-state deliveries, contact us. 6. Do you charge for delivery? It depends on the size of the project and the distance from the Gilcrest/Jewett location. See your Gilcrest/Jewett salesperson or contact us. 7. When did Gilcrest/Jewett move from downtown Des Moines? We moved into our new location in Waukee, Iowa in January 2000. Gilcrest/Jewett’s home office had been located in downtown Des Moines since 1856. Over the last decade, we have responded to the market by increasing our product lines as well as adding a carpet division, cabinet division, and window and door division. As a result of this tremendous growth, we outgrew our downtown facility. By moving to Waukee, we increased total space from 7 acres to 26 acres and expanded our showroom to 12,500 square feet and storage space to 160,000 square feet. 8. Are you locally owned? We’ve been locally owned since our founding in 1856. 9. How do I get to the Waukee location? click to view map From I235/I80 North on 74th Street to University Avenue. West on University for two miles. We are located on Alice’s Road and University. From I35 Take Hickman exit. Go west for 4 miles to Alice’s Road. There is a Coca-Cola plant at the corner of Hickman/Highway6 and Alice’s Road. Go south on Alice’s Road. We are a mile on the right hand side of Alice’s Road. If you need further directions, please contact us. 10. Are there other Gilcrest/Jewett lumberyards in Iowa? Outside of Iowa? We have 4 locations, all in Iowa. Our home office is in Waukee, Iowa. Our other locations are in Ankeny, Marion and Coralville. 11. Does Gilcrest/Jewett provide installation? Gilcrest/Jewett installs carpet and cabinets or delivers cabinets to the job site. For installation of our other products, your salesperson can help you find a qualified and appropriate subcontractor, remodeler, or carpenter. 12. Does Gilcrest/Jewett have an estimator? Every Gilcrest/Jewett salesperson has been thoroughly trained to do a material estimate for any size or scope of project at no charge. For a free estimate, ask any Gilcrest/Jewett salesperson or contact us. 13. Where do you buy your lumber? We receive our lumber and plywood by truck and rail from mills around the country and Canada. Our Waukee location has a Union Pacific rail siding that receives several hundred cars a year. 14. How long have you offered carpet and cabinets? Gilcrest/Jewett Lumber Company has been a full-service residential and commercial floor covering dealer for 20 years. We have an extensive showroom for the homeowner, homebuilder, remodeler, contractor, architect and designer. Our cabinet division is two years old and experiencing excellent growth. We have a phenomenal showroom that displays the three lines that we carry, Wood-Mode, Brookhaven, and Medallion. 15. Do you build trusses? We represent five excellent truss manufacturers all located in Iowa. 16. Do you have a design service? We offer a complete residential and commercial design service that includes consulting, plan development and site planning. Builder-ready plans and blueprints can be created as well as modifying any existing plan or working with you to create a custom plan just right for you. Still have questions?
