COVID-19 Update, March 27, 2020 —

March 27, 2020
A message from Gilcrest/Jewett Lumber Company:

As COVID-19, the coronavirus, begins to have an increased impact, Gilcrest/Jewett Lumber is taking measures to ensure the health and well-being of our community.

We understand the concern and uncertainty you may be experiencing surrounding this emerging crisis, but as many others, our team is closely following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and other local and national health organizations.

Our G/J Branches, Plum Building Systems, and Plum Design are Open for Business.  Front counters are open at all locations, however, access to the showroom is currently by appointment only.  Some of our teammates may be working remotely.

We are requesting that customers and vendors consider placing and taking orders with your G/J contact remotely by phone, text or email.  If you do enter our yard to pick up a will call order, please remain in your vehicle and our yard personnel will get your order pulled and loaded.

If you do come into the yard, we have taken the following steps.

  • Making more hand sanitizer stations readily available throughout our locations for employees, customers and vendors.
  • Increasing cleaning frequency of our facilities, with cleaning supplies readily available across all work spaces and common areas.
  • Requiring employees stay home when sick, or after contact with anyone that tests positive, as well as sending home anyone that shows respiratory symptoms or fever.
  • Encouraging frequent hand washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

We have also…

  • Minimized sales meetings, events or gatherings.
  • Asked our drivers to minimize contact on sites and refrain from obtaining customer signatures. We are asking that our drivers take even more pictures of the delivered goods on the job site than they currently are taking.
  • Cancelled many supplier appointments.

Although this is an unprecedented event, working together we can ensure the health and well-being of our community.

I thank everyone for their cooperation and understanding during these most unprecedented times.
