Wayne Mason joined Gilcrest/Jewett in 2023 and serves in outside sales. With nearly three decades of experience in the construction industry, Wayne combines his knowledge of building materials with a passion for helping customers find what they need.
“I like selling things that people need, and I liked the construction world,” he says. That blend of practical understanding and enthusiasm for the trade continues to shape his work today.
Every day brings something new. Wayne spends his time connecting with customers, preparing estimates, placing orders for special items, and coordinating deliveries to keep projects moving. The pace is steady and often unpredictable, but that variety is what keeps the work enjoyable. He notes that he can remember back to the days when take-offs were done by hand, a reminder of how much the industry has evolved.
When asked what customers should know more about, Wayne doesn’t point to a product—he points to a principle: “Honesty. Deliver what is promised. Try to get a quote back ASAP.” It’s an approach that’s earned him lasting customer relationships and trust.
Wayne’s best skill is listening. “I listen to the customer, contractor, or homeowner and try to give them exactly what they want,” he says. “And if that can’t be done for some reason, I tell them right up front.”
He’s proud to continue serving many of the customers who followed him to Gilcrest/Jewett, a sign of the loyalty and confidence he’s built over the years.
Wayne is described as honest, dependable, and trustworthy, and his philosophy is simple: “Always do my best at whatever is in front of me.”
When he’s not at work, Wayne enjoys watching his grandkids participate in football games, wrestling meets, softball games, and a dance recitals, sneaking in some golf, and taking care of his family’s mini storage business.
