This month we’re shining the spotlight on Drew Hauschen, our Waukee Yard Manager!
Drew started with Gilcrest/Jewett 13 years ago as a yard team member building loads. From there he moved into the Mechanic Shop, and through hard work and dedication, he worked his way up to become our Yard Manager — something he considers his proudest accomplishment.
A typical day for Drew includes printing tickets for the yard to build and making sure loads are completed in the right order and by priority to keep everything running smoothly. What he enjoys most about his job is the opportunity to constantly look for ways to make things better. He also says one of the best parts of coming to work is the great group of people he gets to work with every day — especially his favorite department… the yard (his team).
Outside of work, Drew enjoys woodworking and spending his weekends at his kids’ activities. If he could travel anywhere, you’ll likely find him in the mountains — any mountains will do. His favorite local restaurant is Sol Agave-Grimes, and on Thursdays his go-to lunch order is boneless wings from Jethro’s. Fall is his favorite season, and his bucket list is simple but meaningful: live life in the moment and travel.
